MOQ, tempi di consegna e pagamento: come si presenta davvero un primo ordine

Most first-order friction comes from mismatched expectations about minimum quantity, lead time and payment. Knowing what drives each number makes negotiation straightforward.

MOQ

For rubber chemicals, minimum order quantity is usually driven by packaging and production batch size rather than by willingness to sell. A plant that fills in 25 kg bags and runs multi-tonne batches will quote a MOQ in the hundreds of kilograms. Asking for 20 kg usually means paying for a full batch anyway, or being declined.

Lead time

Typical components: order confirmation and production slot (a few days to two weeks for standard grades), production and packing, inland transport to the port, export customs clearance, vessel booking, and sailing time. For standard grades held in stock, allow roughly two to three weeks to port plus transit; for made-to-order grades or custom specifications, add the production slot.

Payment

Common structures for chemical and rubber exports include telegraphic transfer with a deposit before production and the balance against documents or before shipment, letter of credit for larger or first-time transactions, and open account terms only once a trading history exists.

Structuring a first order

- Start with a sample or trial quantity to validate the grade, even at a higher unit cost. - Confirm the packaging, labelling and palletising requirement before production — changes after packing are expensive. - Agree the Incoterm and the named port in writing. - Ask for the COA before shipment and match the batch number on arrival. - Plan the second order before the first container is empty, so you are never ordering under pressure. ## Need the documents or today's price?
