Sourcing Chinese Daily Necessities: What Sells, What to Avoid
Category-by-category opportunities and compliance landmines: cleaning, storage, kitchen gadgets, personal care and festive gifts.
What sells
Cleaning & storage: microfibre cloths, foldable storage boxes, refill bottles, silicone brushes — compact, high repeat purchase, freight-friendly.
Kitchen gadgets: silicone spatulas, bamboo utensils, airtight jars, portable blenders.
Personal care: bamboo toothbrushes, refillable razors, compressed towels.
Festive gifts: Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn paper and fabric décor — lanterns, window flowers, sachets, gift wrap.
Avoid or handle with care
Electrical items need destination certification (CE/UL/UKCA) — never list without it; food- and mouth-contact goods need the relevant food-contact statements (e.g. LFGB / FDA on request); battery products ship as dangerous goods, so cost and lead time must be priced in; branded or cartoon artwork carries serious IP risk.
MOQ and sampling
Small daily-use items often start at 100–500 pcs and allow mixed batches — a practical entry point for first-time buyers. Always sample material, odour and hand feel before committing to bulk.
