Rubber Sourcing Compliance 2026: EUDR, REACH & What Buyers Must Check

The regulations now shaping rubber supply chains — and a practical checklist for overseas buyers.

EUDR — traceability for natural rubber The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requires importers to show that certain commodities, including natural rubber, are deforestation-free and traceable to plot of origin. From 2025 this raises compliance cost for NR supply chains, particularly smallholder-sourced material.

REACH & RoHS — chemical substance control - **REACH (EU):** regulates chemicals used in materials placed on the EU market, including additives and processing aids in rubber goods. - **RoHS:** limits specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment that may contain rubber components.

What a buyer should verify - Material origin and, for NR, traceability documentation. - Confirmation that additives meet the destination market's substance rules (REACH/RoHS where applicable). - RoHS-relevant declarations if the part enters electrical/electronic assemblies. - Reasonable laboratory or supplier declarations — request them with the quote.

Keep it practical Compliance is a moving target; ask suppliers for current declarations rather than assuming. [Post an RFQ](/rfq/post) and request compliance docs up front.

*Note: regulations keep changing; the above is a general overview. Always confirm against the latest requirements of your target market and seek professional advice.*
